Sharing The Good News

Chennai, India A land of over 8 million people, with only 10 percent following Jesus. Although India is 75 percent village life, the four major cities of India (Mumbai, Dehli, Calcutta, and Chennai) are rapidly growing. It is estimated that in Chennai over 30,000 move into the city each month....and the LORD calls out for men and women to share the Gospel of the Kingdom with this vast number of people. Advent Christian Church of India

Under the leadership of president Paul Arul Doss, the ACCI is a group of churches of over eighty churches which are primarily located in Chennai. For over 100 years they have proclaiming the near return of Christ and the peace and forgiveness found in Christ Jesus the LORD. Today there are over 30,000 ACCI believers, a Bible College with 30 students, 17 schools, 50 pastors and 20 Bible women. The ACCI has many strategic locations in the city but need our prayers to best reach out to those most in need. Pray for the ACCI believers and leaders to fix their eyes on Jesus and meet the needs of those around them.

Advent Christian Bible College

The Advent Christian Bible College was restarted in 2007 under the principal leadership of Pastor Vijayaseelan. Last year there were 22 students who are now serving as Bible Women and local pastors. This year sessions will begin soon with 32 new students enrolled (26 local pastors in training & 6 Bible Women). The Bible College meets once a week (all day on Tuesdays) and focuses on Bible study and practical ministry needs (like performing rituals, learning Hindi, and delivering sermons). Please pray for this Bible College as they seek to have godly teachers and mentors for the students as well as students who come to know more about Christ and serving His Church.

Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches

Under the faithful leadership of president Prabu Manuel, the FBHC is a group of 32 fellowships which focus on reaching people with the Gospel of the Kingdom in light of the near return of Jesus. Formed in 1986 the FBHC has fellowships all throughout Tamil Nadu (the state of which Chennai is the capital city) and are in the process of rapidly becoming more self governing, self supporting, and missions focused. Today there are over 6,000 believers in the FBHC, 25 pastors, and 2 Bible women who serve a variety of ministries. Please pray for a training center and system for the FBHC as they venture on into a new area of ministry.

Disciple Training

Currently the FBHC is in a major process of transition as they seek to be fully independent of all foreign money and leadership. Although the FBHC has been lead by foreigners for over 20 years it is not a healthy model for the future, so then the leaders of the FBHC along with American Advent Mission are working hard to make this transition as smooth and orderly as possible. To work toward a completely Indian leadership model the FBHC has partnered with the AAM and the Advent Christian Conference of India (ACCI) to host a Discipleship Training program to raise up future leaders from the local church. This training is for men and women who are in the local work place but seeking to have more training to do ministry both at work and in their villages. The training sessions are twice a month on Saturday nights from 5-9 pm. The sessions focus on the basics of the Bible and hands on learning about marriage counseling, administration, how to share your faith, and more about prayer and fasting. Each session is taught by a different pastor so that the lessons are fresh and based upon the pastor's giftings. Each student must have a mentor pastor who partners with them during the two weeks for mentoring. The current director of this program is Pastor Stanley Foljar of the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Church at Chrompet.
